About Me

Hello! My name is Emily Tilden, and I was born in the Silicon Valley. I have lived most of my life in California, and I graduated from San Jose State University. I love the San Francisco Bay Area, and no matter how far and wide I travel, I always seem to come back because this will always be home to me.

I worked in the high tech industry for over 25 years at non-profits, pre-IPO startups, high tech firms, and even global Fortune 100 companies. I loved the challenge and excelled in those environments, but I simply got tired of the corporate environment mired in endless meetings, office politics, bureaucracy, micro-management, and long hours. My doctor told me to quit my job in order to resolve issues I had with recurring ulcers due to stress and anxiety. It was the best advice a doctor ever gave me. I am still passionate about technology and programming, but now I enjoy doing it in my spare time for fun.

I have received regular electrolysis over the years, and becoming an electrologist seemed like a natural transition. I went back to school and graduated from the California Electrology Academy in Southern California, which I consider to be one of the best schools in this field. After graduating, I passed the State Board Exam, and I am currently an actively Licensed Electrologist in the State of California.

I also belong to the American Electrology Association, and I am recognized as a licensed electrologist and licensed business in good standing. My goal is to attend the national convention and as many seminars as possible in order to maintain the highest level of skill in my industry.

I am an active member of the Electrology Education Coalition, founded by a group of national electrology schools. They offer continuing education, from weekly Zoom calls to paid classes. In my experience, each electrology school has a completely different curriculum, and students graduate with very different perspectives on the industry. By interacting with with other school representatives and other students, I am able to continuously advance my skills and awareness of the latest practices across my field.

I also belong to an informal group of local electrologists in the Northern California area called the “Zappers”. We have been meeting regularly to chat, share ideas, educate, and vent to each other. I hosted a meeting at my office in September, and I actually worked on many of the ladies that attended. Since everyone else was trained on and treats with the Blend method, they were interested in experiencing Thermolysis which is where I excel. I really enjoyed meeting other people in my field, and I look forward to our next meeting!
